저는 공무원으로 살다가 "농사를 통해 가난한 사람들에게 희망을 주는 일"을 하겠다는 용기를 가지고 퇴사해서 2012년부터 농사를 짓고 가르치고 있습니다. 아프리카 등지에서 농약과 비료에 대한 의존을 끊고 자립적 생태농을 운동 차원으로 만들어간 이야기를 들려 드릴게요. 농장이 위치한 이곳은 베스트셀러 "야생초편지" 저자이신 황대권 선생님이 폐교를 인수해서 가꾼 곳입니다. 생명평화 운동을 오래 해오신 존경스러운 선생님이 계신 곳으로 뜻깊은 시간이 되실 것입니다.

✅Introduction to the Host and the Farm :
I used to be a government official, but I had the courage to quit my job with the determination to "give hope to the poor through farming." Since 2012, I have been farming and teaching. I will share stories about my efforts to help people in Africa and other regions break free from dependence on pesticides and fertilizers by promoting self-sufficient ecological farming as a movement.
This farm is located on land cultivated by Hwang Dae-kwon, the author of the bestseller Letters from Wild Plants, who took over an abandoned school and transformed it. He is a highly respected teacher who has long been dedicated to the life and peace movement, making this a meaningful place to visit.

I spent a short five days on this farm, but it was a very meaningful time for me.
Since it was winter, before the crops were planted, most of my work involved chopping firewood and doing some cleaning.
I genuinely enjoyed the work, and the host—who has a lot of international experience—was very kind and understanding. He took me to a hot spa and to the Taekkyeon class that he teaches. I really enjoyed them. In addition to the host, there was also a life and peace activist I had the chance to meet. It was a place where I could learn a lot about simple living and sustainable living, and I personally felt very inspired.
Because the space is built around a former closed school, it’s a bit different from a typical house, so there may be some inconveniences. But it will definitely be a memorable WWOOFing experience.

Our experience on the farm was fantastic. The hosts were welcoming and kind. We loved hearing their personal stories, seeing their passion for organic farming, learning about Korean culture, and tasting traditional dishes. The location was beautiful and we enjoyed a walk around the village, seeing many farms, flowers, and natural beauty. We felt like our work in the fields was meaningful and we were able to learn about many different types of wild greens as well as other more traditional farming crops. We learned several principles from the farmer as we harvested, pulled weeds, and composted all at the same time. We are very grateful for our time here.

Rei and the experience at his farm was outstanding. Ideal blend of rustic and still modern for us (Korean American father and teenage son). Learned a lot about organic farming and worked hard. Enjoyed the country-side and nature.
