✅ Introduction to the Host and the Farm :
Our ranch is the largest highland ranch in Asia, located in a pristine high-altitude area at 850–1,470 meters above sea level. It is also a famous filming location for various movies and dramas.
Established in 1972, we currently raise around 300 cattle and 100 sheep. The animals graze freely across 6 million pyeong (approximately 19.8 km²) of lush pastures. We aim to raise animals as naturally as possible. Our vast organic grasslands serve as a delicious dining table for the animals while providing humans with breathtaking scenery and a peaceful retreat. We practice **sustainable livestock farming that protects the natural ecosystem, and our vision is to preserve nature and share food in its most natural form.

I stayed 2 weeks at Samyang Ranch and had a good time. On day one, the manager Yoojin picked me up at Jinbu station and took me grocery shopping before dropping me at the accommodation, a nice apartment with a kitchen, bathroom, and living space. Only lunch is provided (you eat delicious food at the cafeteria with the staff), but you cook dinner yourself at the apartment.
You can work with either the Landscaping team or the Animal Breeding team; I went with the latter. The atmosphere was super friendly. We had daily tasks (feeding cows, bottle-feeding calves, cleaning feeders), but also downtime in the office or walking around. Sometimes we all went for coffee after lunch.
I worked mornings only. In the afternoon, I was free to go home, but I chose to stay with the animal team most afternoons because I became friends with Eunji, a Korean intern who spoke fluent English. She made everything easier (especially understanding instructions) and was great company. I worked alongside her every day.
The views are stunning. You can hike or take the ranch’s shuttle. Downsides: very isolated, long walking distances. The nearest train station is hard to reach without a car.
Overall, it was a good experience, but I think Eunji’s presence definitely made it even better. I only speak a bit of Korean, and having her help translate and someone closer to my age to talk with made a big difference. Without her, I’d still have enjoyed it, but probably felt a bit more isolated XD

aggtopus (Singapore) : I spent about 16 days on the ranch and the ranch is so beautiful just being in nature, seeing the sheeps, cows and humongous windmills. I was with the cow team and daily tasks include feeding cows and calves, cleaning up the barn! I will work from 8-12 and lunch is with the cow team workers which tastes amazing! They usually accept one (group) of volunteers each time so you will have the whole apartment to yourself which was comfortable and well maintained. Groceries will be bought on d1 for you to settle your breakfast and dinner in your apartment. Exploring out of the ranch will be difficult without a car on off days, I usually hike around the ranch / spend time at the ranch’s cafe!

Jesús Bronte (Spain) : I have spent 9 days in Samyang farm. These 9 days have passed very quickly, at all times I have felt very well.
The environment where the farm is located is just great. Surrounded by nature, lush forests, mountains and animals, both wild and farm animals such as cows, sheep... and even ostriches!!
At all times the people who work on the farm have been very kind and friendly to me, which I have been very grateful for.
Regarding the work carried out, this has been mainly with the gardening team, tasks such as weeding, removing weeds, planting plants/flowers, removing grass and placing a new one, etc. Also, one day, in a sloping area we place some tarpaulins (like a carpet) in the grooves produced by water erosion. It was okay since I had never done anything like this before.
The work is during the morning, and in the afternoons, I loved going hiking to the highest part of the farm, from which on clear days, you could perfectly see Gangneung and the Pacific Ocean. It was wonderful!!
As for food, this is with the workers. I can only say that it is delicious.
For all the above, I recommend without any doubt to volunteer here.
Thank you so much!!

Katrina Tan (Singapore) : This was my first wwoofing experience and it was an amazing experience! Before my trip, there was a lot of uncertainty and anxiety and I didn't really know what to expect. But all these feelings disappeared right from Day 1. The host was very friendly and hospitable and I felt very welcomed in this place. The farm staff were all very warm, friendly and helpful too. There was another wwoofer who happened to arrive on the same day as me and that made the entire wwoofing experience all the more fun! :)
We spent most of the 2 weeks doing weeding work and seedling transplant. It is back-breaking work but it was fun and time just flew by while we worked. The gardening team always ensured that we took breaks and occasionally rewarded us with snacks and drinks. We also had the opportunity to work at the dairy section for a day - feeding the cows and calves, and scrubbing their water troughs. It was really cool being up close with the cows and watching the milking process too!
The ranch is a really beautiful place and I enjoyed taking walks along the different trails during our free time. I'll never get tired of the sights, sounds and smell of this place! It's really calming and refreshing just soaking in nature here.
The accommodation was really clean and comfortable. It was fully furnished with everything we needed. Food at the staff canteen was always delicious. I've been so blessed by the people here and am truly grateful for the opportunity to wwoof at Samyang Farm. Thank you for this wonderful experience and I hope to be back again! :)
