저희 마을에는 40년 넘게 친환경 양계를 해오신 양계전문가들과 유기순환 농법으로 밭을 가꾸는 청년들이 함께 살고 있습니다. 생명의 순환과 지속가능한 삶이 우리 마을의 가장 중요한 가치입니다. 최근에는 기후위기의 심각성을 느끼고 다양한 기후위기운동과 지역사회 환경운동에 적극적으로 참여하고 있습니다. 지속가능한 문화가 자리잡은 마을, 탄소 배출 제로 마을을 꿈꾸며 다양한 방법을 고민하고 시도하고 있습니다. 자연을 사랑하는 우퍼 여러분 함께 해요!
저는 2015년에 이곳에서 3개월동안 우핑을 했던 스위스 사람입니다. 농장에서 닭들 돌보기, 사료 주기, 계란 꺼내기, 요리, 어린이 캠프, 한국어와 한국문화까지 배웠습니다. 그 후에 꾸준히 이곳을 방문했으며 2022년에는 마을사람이랑 결혼한후 올해부터 호스트가 되었습니다.

We are a community village living with chickens, believing that "happy chickens create a happy world." Our village has been raising chickens since 1984 and was the first farm in Korea to sell fertilized eggs.In our village, poultry experts with over 40 years of experience in eco-friendly poultry farming live together with young people who cultivate fields using organic circular farming methods. The cycle of life and sustainable living are the most important values of our village. Recently, feeling the severity of the climate crisis, we have been actively participating in various climate action movements and local environmental initiatives. We are exploring and attempting various ways to establish a sustainable, carbon-neutral village. Dear WWOOFers who love nature, come join us!
I am a Swiss person who did WWOOFing here for three months in 2015. During that time, I took care of chickens, fed them, collected eggs, cooked, participated in children's camps, and learned Korean language and culture. Since then, I have continued to visit this place, and in 2022, I married a community member. Since 2024, I have officially become a WWOOF host.

I had an amazing stay at Sanan Village, with Serena and the rest of the village. Everyone I met was so nice and welcoming, even with my extremely limited knowledge of korean.
Thanks to Serena and Mook, I had translations for morning meetings and really clear explanations for the work needed. And even when not speaking the same language, we managed to communicate quite easily.
During my 3 weeks stay I could also enjoy the amazing food cooked at the cafeteria, and I discovered (and loved) many korean dishes ! Minjae (a worker on the farm) even made some delicious baguettes and croissants while I was there!
I really enjoyed spending time with the cute chickens, but also the adorable cats and dogs also living on the farm.
Thank you so much for this amazing experience, and I hope I will be able to return in a few years.

I stayed at Sanan village for 2 weeks and had a very meaningful experience. The farm has a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and the people there are kind and considerate.
I helped with egg collecting, grading, animal care, etc. and the schedule was clear and well-organized. Everyone works so hard, but the atmosphere was never stressful.
The accommodation was comfortable and clean, and the food was amazing. As a vegan, I had limited options, but I felt very well cared for. They always had something delicious in store for me, which I truly appreciated. For anyone else living a vegan lifestyle I'd recommend to ask directly about the kinds of work you can do in the specific season you're visiting and about food options, since there might be some preparation/briefing needed.
The hosts and the community members were very supportive and patient, especially as I knew little Korean. They made me feel included, even when language was a barrier.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this farm to other WWOOFers, especially those who want to experience Korean rural life, work with animals, and be part of a kind community.

Me and my boyfriend we spend 1 month in Sanan Village, but we leave with the willing to spend more time. We couldn't be more happy. We were so well received by the host and the community. We felt as home in the other side of the world.
The farm is big. We learn so much about hens, roosters and eggs. We saw all the process, from taking care of the chickens (feeding, cleaning, caring - we did "pedicure") to collecting the eggs, counting, storing, cleaning, inspecting, packaging and delivering. It was amazing to learn and have fun simultaneously. The community is very well structured, everything works so well. From the room, to the laundry until the meals in the cafeteria. The meals offered were really good and tasty. We could try many korean dishes without leaving the village. The celebratory lunches and dinners we join were so great and funny. We were encourage to prepare portuguese food and everyone like it. In sum, we are grateful to be part of the community for some weeks. We wish to come back one day.
The facilities of the farm and house are excellent. Private room with AC, toilet and showers with eveything needed. Cafeteria with water, coffee and tea, and a professional kitchen (with all what you can imagine to cook). The farm facilities are equal excellent, work clothes, desinfection products and creams available, coffee machine, baked eggs for snacking, all tools needed...high quality work environment.
We strong recommend this farm if you look for an amazing community.

Serena and the rest of Sanan Village were warm, welcoming and enriching to be around. I came to the farm primarily to learn about farming so it was nourishing and thrilling to have my questions answered on specific techniques I was curious about, ideas on new methods I wanted to be challenged on and justifications for why certain techniques/methods were used so I could have a deeper understanding of farming that I could apply in the future.
The people were kind, considerate (especially of my very bad Korean language skills!) and gave me ample opportunity to grow by teaching me how to use new tools (e.g. the fork lift and egg collection machine), new methods (like chicken vaccinations) and by being open to discuss their business model and interact with their customers.
Serena and Mook especially took great pains to ensure I was comfortable and happy, and were eager to exchange ideas and feedback, so I think we both got something from my time there! 😀 I am very sad to have left, but hope to visit sometime in the future! :)
On the day-to-day: the accommodation was clean and comfortable. There were spare work clothes and shoes available, and masks and eye protection. Serena and Mook have fantastic English skills, with others knowing a range, which I think will be really helpful for foreigners like me visiting 🙂 There is a bus stop near by to reach the city if you need to, but I’d recommend using Kakao Taxi as the bus can be unreliable.
P.S. The food was awesome! 🤩

Anna and Ed (United Kingdom) : We cannot sing the praises of Sanan Village highly enough. We stayed for 3 weeks with our two young daughters. The farm community is so
welcoming and we loved the cultural experience of getting involved in farm life, eating the AMAZING food provided daily (including lots of eggs of course!), and learning about the workings of a commercial chicken farm. The communication with the WWOOF coordinator before we arrived was excellent and we were given super clear information about expectations and the work we would be doing. The team were so flexible with our childcare needs as well, which was so appreciated. The space is excellent for children too!
The work was mostly egg picking, which not very varied but was interesting to learn about. We also helped out with other parts of the egg production process and kimchi making!
We miss everyone at Sanan Village and hope we'll be able to stay again sometime soon.

은퇴 후, 귀농귀촌을 준비하며 우핑을 알게되었고, 그 처음이 산안마을 이었음에 항상 감사드리며 살고 있습니다.
너무나 강한 인상으로 제게 다가와서 제 삶을 270도 쯤 바꿔놓은 곳, 산안마을!
산안마을의 영향으로 감히 상상도 할수없었던, 유럽여행을 떠나온지 6개월을 지나 7개월로 접어들었습니다.
늘 생각으로만 어떻게 사는 것이 잘 사는 것인가에 대해 수도없이 생각하고 또 생각하며, 제 남은 삶에 대한 준비와 고민속에서 만난 산안마을, 뒤통수를 한대 꽝! 맞는 기분이었습니다.
'이런 곳이, 이런 사회가, 이렇게 세상을 사는 분들이 실제로 있구나!' 너무 놀라운 충격속에서 왜 좀 더 일찍 만나지 못했을까 아쉬움도 있었지만, 제게는 또 제세상이 있겠거니 하는 맘으로 지금은 이렇게 새로운 세상을 누비고 있습니다. 항상 감사드립니다. 변함없이 그곳에 그렇게 있어주세요. 그동안의 과정이 쉽지만은 않으셨으리란 거, 감히 짐작할 수 있습니다. 그곳에 있을 때만 하더라도 '연찬'이라는 단어가 참, 낯설었었지요. 그러나 세상에서 살면서 날이 갈수록 연찬이란 단어가 자꾸만 머리속에서 맴돕니다. 그 이유가뭘까요?
