전라남도 / Jeollanam-do

my 5th wwoof was very different from the previous ones, mostly because it isn't a farm. It is a spiritual, faith-fluid commune based around an alternative school. However, they have a few plots of land that are cultivated once a week for a couple of hours when a local farmer comes around and kids and adults alike dig in. So there is definitely room for a wwoofer to help grow more and maintain what's there. There are also spaces on the school grounds that could be cleared, and areas with ornamental trees/bushes that could be shared with edible plants.
I made some suggestions during my 2-weeks stay and bought seeds for the kids as a leaving present so maybe the next wwoofer will get to plant some seedlings?
Other things I did during my stay include making curtains, painting the living-room in the wwofer's house, spreading sand on the playground and the path to fill the holes, helping in the kitchen (only a little as there are always a lot of adults and older kids already on kitchen duty) and joined an English lesson.
The work day starts at 8.30am with an easy 1 hour walk to and from the beach with the kids, then whatever work needs doing until 12, when everyone has lunch together, then another 1.5 hours after lunch, so you're usually finished by 2.30pm max. There's potentially some flexibility as they've only just started taking in wwoofers and are finding their feet. Bitnanda is the lady in charge of the wwoofers. She is really lovely and speaks English. Weekends are fr...
