Songgwangsa is the perfect place to reflect on life and experience a sense of healing, far from the usual pace of everyday life. The temple itself is beautiful, and time seems to flow differently there. You really have the space to be with yourself, explore the surroundings, and discover Buddhism and temple life at your own pace, which makes the experience even more meaningful. One of my favorite moments was having morning tea with Taeyong, I only wish they had happened every day because it was really fun and interesting. At first, it took me a little time to adjust to the kitchen tasks, but once people warmed up to me, they were incredibly kind and welcoming. I also really enjoyed working among the tea trees. It was such a nice feeling to be outside in the sun. Overall, it was a simple yet powerful human experience that I will remember for a long time.

WWOOFing at Songgwangsa Temple was a relaxing and healing experience. The temple is pretty tucked away in the mountains so you are far from any town but that means it offers a special kind of peacefulness. And the stars are beautiful at night! The host, Taeyong Sunim is very kind, funny and patient. Most mornings, we had tea time together and I was able to learn more about Buddhism and monk life. The work is very manageable and can become quite meditative. When it rains, you work in the kitchen and see how all the delicious food is made. Speaking of which, you get the opportunity to eat three hearty meals of temple food. The meals were definitely one of the highlights of my stay. If you enjoy hiking, there are trails you can access right from the temple. I highly recommend this WWOOFing experience. I think you'll find it a wonderful, unique time

It’s my first Wwoof and I had an unforgettable time in 송광사 . I was nourished by the fresh air, trees and snow. Works in the kitchen are easy, like cutting vegetables and do the dishes. Everyone I met in the temple are friendly and nice. The host is super easygoing. I enjoyed the morning tea and morning talk very much. The atmosphere in 송광사 is one of the kind. It’s cold but majestic. If you are looking for peace and quiet, this is it.

I spent 3 weeks at the temple and it was a really great experience. I worked about 4 hours a day in the tea garden or in the kitchen, and it was really relaxing — no need to be fast, you can just work at your own rhythm. The food in the temple restaurant was delicious! It changes every day, and since it's fully vegan, it's a great choice for anyone with a vegetarian or vegan diet. My room was also comfortable, and having my own bathroom gave me enough privacy to rest properly after work. Taeyon is really generous and funny — he often gave me snacks or small presents, and even brought us outside the temple to eat twice. I couldn't ask for a nicer host :) I recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful atmosphere and a little break in their travel :) Thank you again for welcoming me!
