✅ 영어소통 : 기본적인 대화 가능, 스페인어 능통 ✅ 일주일 기준 우핑시간 : 하루5시간 주5일 ======== English explanation ========== ✅ Introduction to the Host and the Farm : In 2017, I became a member of the Biodynamic Agriculture Practice and Research Association. In 2018, I studied natural farming through the “Self-Reliant Small Farm School” offered by the Korean Returning Farmers Movement. In 2019, I lived and worked at the Peace Tree Farm in Pocheon for a year, learning organic and biodynamic farming as well as the life of a farmer from teachers Junkwon Kim and Hye-deok Won. In 2021, I moved to Gwanin-myeon, Pocheon, and began cultivating approximately 10,000 pyeong (about 3.3 hectares) of rice paddies and fields using biodynamic agriculture. I started farming on a bare, empty field with no connections and no land of my own. But because I believe farming is a meaningful and beautiful vocation, I endured the difficulties and committed myself to life in the countryside. For those who want to learn farming, I’m happy to share what I’ve learned through real-life experiences. For those who understand the value of agriculture, I look forward to sharing meaningful work and time together on the farm. ✅ Year Farming Started : 2019 ✅ Farm Type : Family farm, Agro-Healing Farm ✅ Main Crops : Chili peppers, perilla, rice and about 40 other crops ✅ Eco-Friendly Farming Practices : We practice biodynamic agriculture, applying biodynamic preparations and following the biodynamic planting calendar for sowing, growing, harvesting, and processing. Our farming is grounded in organic principles. Our main crops—chili peppers, perilla, and rice—are certified “Pesticide-Free” by Korea’s Ministry of Agriculture and are currently in transition toward full organic certification (expected 2026). We use preservation rows in our chili fields and do not use plastic mulch in the perilla fields. Rice is cultivated using the golden apple snail (woorung-i) method. We are also deeply interested in seed diversity and native Korean varieties, growing a wide range of heirloom crops for household consumption. Our vision is to build a biodynamic farm where rice paddies, fields, orchards, and livestock coexist in harmony. ✅ Eco-Friendly Lifestyle Practices : We strive for food self-sufficiency and use a local cooperative (co-op) for household essentials. We avoid disposables, using stainless containers on the farm and tumblers in daily life, in an effort to minimize environmental harm through small, conscious practices. ✅ People You Can Meet Besides the Host : Wife, son and daughter ✅ Pets on the Farm : One golden retriever ✅ Tasks for WWOOFers : -March: Preparing the fields and planting chili peppers in rain-shelter greenhouses -April–May: Planting chili seedlings and setting up stakes -June–early July: Planting perilla and weeding, harvesting winter crops and spring vegetables(garlic, onion, barley, wheat and etc.) -Late July–August: Harvesting chili peppers and weeding, planting autumn crops -September–October: Packing and shipping chili powder and rice, harvesting rice and perilla, participating in Marche Farmers’ Market, harvesting and storing autumn crops(radish, cabbage and etc.) -November: Hulling perilla seeds, preparing raw perilla oil for shipping, sowing barley and wheat, participating in Marche Farmers’ Market, clearing fields ✅ Preferred WWOOFers : Those who are sincere, reliable, and bring a positive attitude to the farm ✅ Message to WWOOFers : I hope the time we share will be meaningful for both of us. ✅ Wi-Fi Availability in Accommodation : Available ✅ Alcohol and Smoking Policy : Smoking is not allowed; moderate drinking is permitted ✅ Meals with the Host : You share one or two meals with the host, and for the rest, ingredients are provided. ✅ English Communication : Basic conversation possible; fluent in Spanish ✅ WWOOFing Hours Per Week : 5 hours per day, 5 days a week

Staying with Hyunji and Sungtaek was such a memorable experience. From the first day they make me fell completely at home. Both of them were so kind, warm and generous with me! Sungtaek is one the kindest people I have ever met, he's always smiling and calm, even when the situation was a little bit unfortunate - problems with perilla machine, truck that was stuck... :') He was so warm and always willing to share his knowledge with me, I learned a lot about the farm work - especially perilla - thanks to him! I was also very lucky because I was able to see the arrival of the new animals - a cow and a goat (unfortunately I forgot their Korean names!). It was fun to see the farm slowly growing. Hyunji was also really really nice with me, she always made sure I felt comfortable at their house. Each day, she took the time to cook us three delicious meals, thank you again, that was so tasty! She even took me several times to some beautiful places like the Hantan River, and I'm grateful that she was always free to drive me to the subway station. I also really enjoyed spending time with their kids — they were full of energy, and we had a lot of fun together. Overall, this was an unforgettable experience, I'm really grateful to them for their kindness and hospitality. I'll remember this stay as a beautiful moment during my trip in Korea. Thank you!

I chose A Thousand Wind Farm as my very first experience as a WWOOFer, and I couldn’t have asked for anything better. I truly want to thank Sungtek and Hyunji for welcoming me into their family from the very first day. Thank you also for being patient while teaching me how to work in the fields, and for cooking such delicious meals. Both hosts were always incredibly kind, making sure the work was never too hard for me. My main tasks included harvesting red peppers and perilla leaves. During my free time, they often offered to drive me to visit the most interesting places in the area, and I also had so much fun playing with their two children — I already miss them! Communication was never a problem since both of them speak good English, and it was really fun to exchange ideas, have conversations, and share jokes together. I sincerely hope I’ll be able to visit them again in the future.

I couldn’t be happier that I chose Thousand Winds Farm for my first WWOOFing trip. The farm grows a variety of crops, but red chili peppers are their main specialty. During my 8-day stay, I helped with harvesting and cleaning peppers, along with some optional grass trimming. The work was hands-on and satisfying, and the pace felt natural. The hosts speak great English, so communication was easy. From day one, they made me feel at home — even inviting me on a family trip during my rest day. There’s a bike you can use to explore the scenic countryside of Pocheon, and if you need to go somewhere, the hosts are happy to give you a ride. One of the highlights was the food — genuinely restaurant quality, made fresh every day, and something I’ll definitely miss. The hosts were also incredibly kind and attentive, always checking if I was tired or needed a break. While the work could be tiring at times, seeing how genuinely they worked made me want to give my best. Accommodation is comfortable — your own private room in the family’s home — and you’ll be sharing the space with two adorable kids who might be a little cheeky at first but quickly win you over. Overall, this was the perfect first WWOOFing experience. I’m already planning to come back next year. If you want authentic farm life in Korea with warm people, great food, and a welcoming atmosphere, then stop searching — this is the place.

Chowon, thank you for your heartfelt review. We were truly touched because we could feel how much you cared about us. Yesterday, we listened to Pu Tao by Eason Chan again. Thank you for introducing us to such a beautiful song, and the conversations we shared will always stay in our hearts. You also opened a new world for us. We’re grateful that you enjoyed every meal. As for the work, there’s nothing more to say—you were so diligent, even waking up earlier than us to get ready, and that really gave us strength. When we went to Bidulginang, we felt the rain actually made the moment even more memorable. It would have been nice without the rain too, but because of the rain, it left a deeper impression. It was also wonderful that you went out cycling on your own to enjoy the breeze. We also thank you for being so warm with the kids. We truly hope you stay healthy, and we look forward to seeing you again. Whenever you miss nature, want to work simply while sweating, or crave homemade meals, our doors are always open for you. Best wishes, Hyunji & Sungtaek
